A Maternity Nurse will be on call 24 hours a day for 5 or 6 days a week, however this can be flexible depending on individual needs and the Maternity Nurse you employ. It is possible to have a Maternity Nurse for days only or nights only. Please remember that although Maternity Nurses are 'on call' 24-hours a day they do need some sleep! We recommend that you allow your Maternity Nurse at least a couple of hours a day to catch up on sleep or to have some 'time out'. Extra
Duties: For example preparing meals, walking the dog, popping to the shops
or caring for siblings. All Maternity Nurses
differ in the extra duties they are willing to perform, most are willing
to 'muck-in' but it is essential that you discuss this with the individual
Maternity Nurse at interview stage and before
confirming a booking. Most Maternity Nurses will
not be responsible for any household cleaning or general laundry and ironing
other than the baby's nor will they be responsible for the care of other
children in the household without prior agreement.
